Tharu Cultural Museum & Research Center


Tharu Museum is a home to one of the finest collections of the heritage in Nepal. It was established in 2005 in order to conserve and uplift Tharu typical cultures, traditions, indigenous skill, lifestyle and their ancient heritage. It is first indigenous museum in Nepal, situated in the heart of Bachhauli near Sauraha at the edge of Chitwan National park. It is 17 km far from headquarter Bharatpur.

The Museum harboes a mosaic of cultural traditions of during periods of their lifecycle. It offers to visitors a u
nique and unrivalled opportunity to view existent of tharu people. It contains a wealth of information regarding the Tharu culture and traditions that are depicted in paintings and display materials that are showcased in the museum. It present agricultural practices and various rituals performed by the community during their lifecycle accompanied by displayed antiquates, equipments, instruments etc.
